RANGE AND CONDITIONING
The R&C routine is mandatory for those aiming to qualify to compete for the Scotland Regional Team at British Finals in June. It is part of the qualification process (a gymnast must have achieved at least 35/50 in order to qualify for the Scotland team) and is also used as a tie-breaker at the March selection competition (if there is a tie for second place, the gymnast with the higher R&C score will win the tie).
All gymnasts can be assessed on the R&C routine at the February competition in Perth, and those who place in the top 5 at the March competition must complete the R&C assessment (either at the February competition or at the March competition).
All of our Flyers competing at NDP level will be training the range & conditioning routine. To help get them ready for the assessments at competition, we run an internal Range & Conditioning Challenge each year. The gymnasts are matched up with a different opponent each week and they compete against each other to get the higher range & conditioning score - if they win their match that week, they get a bonus point. At the end of the challenge, the top 2 Flyers compete in the final round, to decide who wins the challenge and the special prize!
For those who are new to competitions, you can watch a perfect example of the range and conditioning routine here!
